During my student years, I worked for several years as a pizza delivery driver at Pizzeria Pidokkio in Leeuwarden. That experience still returns in my dreams: I drive endlessly through the night in a red Fiat Cinquecento, a stack of pizza boxes in the trunk. I don’t know where I am and can’t find the delivery address. Then my furious boss calls — and I wake up.
This work captures that strange state between memory and dream — an everyday experience that shifts into a surreal scenario at night.
The piece is part of a new series in which I explore how personal memories and dreams merge into images that take on a reality of their own.
